title: Teaching
time: 11:54 am

I realized last friday when I went to watch my instructor teach up in St. Paul that being a dance instructor is a huge responsibility. The thought hadn't really sunk in until I watched his classes. I love teaching my 5 year olds, they are so much fun and teaching the fundamentals to them is something that I can handle. My technique class is easy, just have to watch them and change little things and teach them an easier way or a different technique. To watch them grow as dancers just over the last couple of months has been hugely rewarding. One of the moms came up to me last night to thank me for what a great job I was doing. I can't wait to watch them dance on stage and explore and love dance like I do. I love this and that much I can handle. Right now I can't train kids to dance and to learn how at an age where they need proper instruction. I am still growing and learning as a dancer myself. I can pass down what I know, but I can't teach. I want to be a positive influence as an instructor in their lives. I can't wait to see what our technique class brings in the fall! They have so many performances lined up for this summer and into the next dance year =)

Keep your toes pointed

title: Compliments
time: 10:55 am

After a late night text, I realized that he had given me one of the nicest compliments I have ever received.
I have a couple that have stuck around in my memory:

-Luke mentioned one day that I had one of the nicest smiles he had ever seen, as well as the nicest teeth.

-A stranger came up to me after a dance performance and told me that I was the only dancer she was able to watch on stage because I was captivating.

-He told me last night "After getting fucked over by Jenn, you have no idea how incredible you really are. And I took you for granted."

I am sure that there have been others, but these are the couple that have stuck with me.

title: This isn't everything that you are
time: 8:33 am

You can't find the phone, so you can call it off
But it might be for the best
You can't walk away, anyway
Cause you've nowhere else to go
Is he worth all this, is it a simple yes?
Cause if you have to think, it's fucked
Feels like you loved him more, than he loved you
And you wish you'd never met

Don't keel over now
Don't keel over
Don't keel over now
Don't keel over

You've been up all night, and the night before
You've lost count of drinks and time
And your friends keep calling, worried sick
There's strangers everywhere

Don't keel over now
Don't keel over
Don't keel over now
Don't keel over

And in one little moment
It all implodes
This isn't everything you are
Breathe deeply in the silence
No sudden moves
This isn't everything you are
Just take the hand that's offered
And hold on tight
This isn't everything you are

-Look it up and listen, fell in love listening during the drive to work this morning

xoxo

title: thinking
time: 1:02 pm

Thoughts that were thought:

Yes, this may sound a bit "Black Swan-esque", but in reality who else has two solos in Hopak? Just Mason, Adam and myself. One girl with two very talented boys, hate all you want but I've worked hard and still do.

It's not my fault if someone likes me, I am who I am. I am sharp and sarcastic and vulgar and loud and kind and honest and smiling and goofy. I don't fake this.

Also, yes I do like getting my way.

I probably put too much sugar in my coffee in the morning. Bad habit...

Crate & Barrel is my absolutely favourite store. I can't wait to have my own home with kitchen space and decorating potential.

Pinterest is also assisting with the home ideas. So much time spent there...

Speaking of house, I really need to clean... Apparently I am the only one capable of such things...

Oh god I love the way you smell.

I can see the resemblance between me and both of my parents more and more each day. Bit scary but they are both such great people.

I really need to learn how to say no.

Fuck, I have to go choreograph a dance in an hour. So many ideas...

I really need a second coffee travel mug. I continually leave mine at work and what good does it do me there?

I am soooooo excited to see what dance brings next! He has so many ideas and goals, I just can't wait. I haven't loved dance this much since I was little.

On the dance note, why can't I have had a body that was built for my one and only passion? So many things are in between me and my goal.

Also according to my coffee pot, I am on my 6th cup of coffee this morning/afternoon.

I really want to paint a picture for my kitchen table area. I have these fabulous burgundy/deep red velvet chairs and I think poppies, which just happen to be my favourite flower, would be a perfect match. Now I just have to find the creativity.

title: Fancy
time: 9:14 pm

I wish we said “fancy”. As in, “I fancy you.” It’s such a more agreeable term than “I have a crush on you.”  What’s a crush? Like, I AM A BOA CONSTRICTOR AND I AM GOING TO IMMOBILIZE YOU WITH MY MISPLACED AND OBSESSIVE AFFECTION.  “I fancy you” is like, you’re so shiny and glittery and I just want to put you on a shelf and look at you for a while ‘cause you’re fancy.

title: Patience
time: 10:23 pm

It is hard to come to the conclusion that as much as you think you know someone, you never actually will. We are constantly evolving, changing, growing. I look back on the last year and so much has changed. So much has changed me as a person, how I see things, how I deal with people, who I am inside. I'm not sure who I am anymore, I seem to have lost track of myself. Just wandering through life, not actually there.

I look back on conversations with him and I can see the differences; how we think, what we want, who we are. But looking forward to conversations with new people, there are personalities out there that don't clash as much. More similarities. And as much as I am trying to grab hold of myself again and figure everything out, there is lots of possibilities out there. One must just search.

But patience is definitely not my virtue.

title: The heart is hard to find
time: 7:53 pm

How come the heart can cause such hurt?
To my feelings, my pride, to my confidence, my self esteem...

It makes it hard to stand back up on your two feet and take on the world again. To put your heart back on the line, back out there for everyone else to see.

But to have the confidence to put it out there in the first place showed that I was stronger than I thought that I was. Might have a rock for a heart, but I still have feelings. And I had almost forgot what it felt like to have them crushed.

If you need some ice to cool your drink, just let me know and I will chip some off my heart for you.

xoxo
